Group project to adapt and illustrate Hillaire Belloc’s Cautionary Tales for Children. The brief required us to respond to the poems and re-design the book, working in teams of 5 and each of us responsible for creating the concept for one double page spread. We then each had our own roles (illustrator, typographer, layout designer and art director) within in the team to come together and execute the designs.
I was responsible for the cover designs and the background illustration work. I worked together closely with another illustrator who did the character designs. I found it a valuable experience working as a team, and seeing how we were able to combine our skills and strengths to create a joint outcome. It was also a really useful insight into how projects are developed in industry.
